Now, I understand having irrational fears...I have one myself. I am sure I will tell you all about my insane fear of bats, but that will saved for another day. Thanks to a helpful link from one of my tweeples, I found this interesting bit of info on Wikipedia about Fan Death.
Now, I am not one to judge...but this just sounds silly:
Fan death is a South Korean urban legend (also prevalent in Japan) which states that an electric fan, if left running overnight in a closed room, can cause the death of those inside (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia). Fans manufactured and sold in Korea are equipped with a timer switch that turns them off after a set number of minutes, which users are frequently urged to set when going to sleep with a fan on.[1]
Was there a mass of deaths in South Korea where the factor tying them all together was that death occurred in a closed room with a fan on? Cause...really...that's weird.
